Sure - and you did say we could make 'requests' with ideas! ;) I'm hoping to get more down time to read more, I've read a few chapters so far. Loving...
Point taken. I'd been wondering how to end the book, to relate it to the start. I do it in articles and stuff all the time (relate start to end), but...
Yeah, I was thinking about the "fifth year for a master's" program they offered for a bit, and when I talked to people, several people said "What you...
It takes a bit longer to walk to the keep than it would have if you'd done it while the ground was still dry, but the difference is minimal. And, in...
Thanks for your advice. What you describe is along the lines of what I have currently, perhaps - but I haven't moved past the first battle scene yet....
Well, I think that would be a poor solution compared to just buying slaves. If you're giving money to wheat and stone suppliers, you have no control...
I don't have a prologue - the attack happens in chapter 1, which is the start of the book. There is a small time skip between chapter 1 and 2, but I...
Don't start with a battle scene - already broke that rule (though that's just one guy's opinion). Actually, the town is raided, which introduces the...
I am a lifelong Fantasy and Science Fiction Fan, a passion which started with reading Lord of the Rings. I am also recovering from a recent depressive episode, in part due to my writing. Having such an outlet for my feelings that I could focus my attention and energy on helped my to recover my mental balance.
My writings are influenced by many great authors and storytellers, including JRR Tolkien, Karen Traviss, Michael Stackpole, Kristen Britain, Kristin Cashore, Kevin J. Anderson, George Lucas, Terence Dicks, Gene Roddenberry and Aaron Allston. I also draw a great deal of inspiration from the Final Fantasy series of games developed by Square Enix. The stretch the boundaries of possibilities, reality and morality, going as far as to present the players with difficult choices and ethical considerations. Their heroes were rarely perfect and their villains never purely evil, making you sympathise with their motives, if not their actions.
I live in Central London, having grown up in the Capital. I enjoy travelling, especially to Europe and the moral rural parts of England, particularly the New Forest. I travel to broaden my horizons and see places I haven't been before. I enjoy learning languages, although I don't have as much time as I'd like to study.
I consider myself a fairly streetwise individual, with a focus on practical self-defence and avoidance tactics. I spent 3 years studying Wing Tsun Kung Fu, learning philosophy, discipline and close quarters self-defence. Balance was one of the great tenants of WT, both physically, spiritually and mentally. There are no secrets in martial arts; just hard work, which is what Kung Fu means.
My interests involve tactical and strategy games, RPGs, Japanese culture, drawing, music and reading.
My favourite video games are Final Fantasy, Ghost Recon, Valkyria Chronicles, SWAT GST, Sid Meier's Civillisation Revolution, LOTR Third Age, .Hack, Shadow the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage.
I have recently begun playing the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battlegame from Games Workshop. I can replay my favourite battles from the books, or explore alternate strategies and scenarios. I am working on a scenario that follows the fellowship of the King Elessar and King Eomer
I enjoy reading Japanese Manga, particularly Suikoden, Naruto, Fruits Basket, +Anima and Ragnarok. I also read Star Wars, particularly the Republic Commando books by Karen Traviss.
My favourite artists include Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Reliant K, Abney Park, Metallica, Nightwish and Nickelback.
My favourite films include Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson), Princess Mononoke, Last Unicorn, Captain America, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, Sherlock Holmes, X-Men and Pirates of the Carribbean.
My favourite TV shows include StarGate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, West Wing, Top Gear, Black Adder and Thundercats.
