Your portfolio is a place to share your best work with our community. You can use it to post short stories, book chapters, original articles and even journal entries. You may also link to entries in your portfolio from within the Showcase forum.

Before getting started, there are a few points worth noting:

1. By default, your portfolio is viewable by guests.

Anyone who visits Mythic Scribes can see entries in your portfolio, including search engines.

You can, however, restrict your portfolio only to other members of Mythic Scribes. You can do so by visiting Portfolio Settings > Permissions & Privacy.

2. You can also restrict individual entries to members on your contact list.

You can do this on a case by case basis when creating a new entry by selecting the appropriate box under "Options." Please note that moderators can read all entries, including restricted ones.

3. Our Forum Guidelines still apply.

The forum guidelines apply to all portfolio entries, including private ones. Also, please refrain from posting fan fiction.

4. Only members with 5 or more posts can create or comment on portfolios.

Once you have made five posts, it may take up to an hour before you can create a portfolio. This is due to the automated promotion system, which runs once per hour.

5. Be selective in what you share.

Items submitted to your portfolio should be in a polished or near finished state. Drafts which are in serious need of work shouldn't be posted here.

Also, be aware that your portfolio is intended for sharing your work with our community, or with the world. We cannot guarantee that what you post here will remain private.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that you refrain from posting anything in your portfolio which is intended for later publication.

If you have any questions, let us know. It is our hope that these portfolios will be of great service to our burgeoning writing community.

Can someone please tell me how to post a new thread in my Portfolio?

    Hey Llewellyn,

There's a "Create New Post" button near the right top corner on your portfolio page.

Would posting non-fantasy/fiction writing be appropriate? For example, I write a travel blog for work and would love to have feedback on my writing style in order to improve it. Could this work here or should I stick to things related to the genre?

    Hi Topazfire,

The portfolio is meant to be "your space" on Mythic Scribes. You are welcome to feature writing other than fantasy or even fiction in your portfolio.

What kind of feedback are we supposed to be giving? Looking through the portfolio postings, I haven't seen any specifics from the authors as to what they want/expect from readers.

    Hi Weaver,

Not everyone who is posting portfolio entries are looking for feedback. Some people are just sharing stories for others to enjoy, and aren't necessarily expecting a response.

If you would like constructive feedback on your portfolio entries, I recommend making a post in the Showcase forum, where you post an excerpt and a link to your portfolio entry, and explain what kind of feedback you are looking for.

    Hi Jax,

We want to avoid having duplicate content on the site that has already been posted elsewhere on the internet. Thanks!
