    MS Blood Pact: Celebrations

I thought it would be good to have a thread for celebrating accomplishments along the way. So I'll start the bragging: I just finished Part 1 of my story yesterday. I'm super excited because not only do I get to introduce my (debatably) favorite character, I also get to finally delve into druid magic!

Mmm the druid magic sounds interesting. What kind of thing are you thinking, ogham, tree lore, spell songs?

I just finished the 3rd draft of my first novel. I have finally managed to write an ending that draws everything together in a proper whole and made a final decision to edit out a second viewpoint character. I'm hoping this will be the one where I can start polishing and ironing out minor flaws rather than rewriting the plot.

A little bit of everything. The magic/religion in my story isn't an exact copy of druidry, just based off of it, so I pick and choose what I want to include or adapt.

Congrats on the third draft! I can't even imagine getting there at this point, so kudos to you!

WIP: Huge plot breathrough. I mean **H*U*G*E**. I have had this creative logjam for nearly a YEAR trying to figure out how to
make X do Y without Z and have it be plausable and interesting, and I had an idea today- by Jove I think I have it. One of
those "I cannot _believe_ how freakin' brilliant I am" breakthroughs. So excited right now.

This isn't a milestone or anything, but it is a breakthrough. I've been... not great in the last few weeks, for a whole host of reasons. I stopped writing after just two days of working on the story I had originally planned on working on for the blood pact, and ended up down in the dumps, lacking confidence and not writing since. But now I'm working on a new story, and have come to a decision about how to approach writing it - without worrying about quality because it's a first draft, without worrying about publication or whether it's cliched or if anyone is going to like it, because it's a first draft and it can be as bad as it needs to be as long as it gets written. I also came a a realisation of what was holding me back, and have taken steps to remedy that. So now I'm back on form. Yesterday, having barely done any planning, almost no worldbuilding at all (a tiny bit of history, naming conventions and coinage only), and having names, when I started typing, for all of two characters, I just started. And I'm happy with it. I'm happy with how it started, and I'm happy with how much I wrote, and I'm happy with my attitude and approach and the decisions I've made.
All experience is good experience, even if it's a bad experience.
