Character Profile: Rousreuel

A former student of the Sanctorum, he has learned the religion is actually a front for the Novus Lux’s dark secrets of demon worship, primarily the one who has once devastated the world named Tartaros, whom the people of Teras worship as their god. For most of his life, his first memory was of an elderly knight dropping him off at an orphanage while he was at the brink of his life. From then on, Rousreuel was raised to become a member of the clergy as he was never adopted rather than follow his dream of becoming one of the elite knights of the Novus Lux known as the Paladins. Ever since a child, he was believed to be a prodigy in these arts and lacked the physical capabilities of becoming one of these famed soldiers. He was treated as a pariah in the orphanage he was raised in for his skill in the forbidden arts of his magick have only made him shunned by society and the target of bullying by the other children at the orphanage. One day in the famed library of the Novus Lux, his only place of solace from his burdens, he changed his destiny upon learning the shocking truth of the creed and willingly chose to become an apostate and ran away from the orphanage. He became a vagabond due to not only his crimes against the church, but also because he was labelled a necromancer by those who fear him for using the healing magics he learned. His life was one of any other adventurer but his true passion was of a bard and those who did not know of him being the infamous necromancer were amazed by his storytelling which only mask his cynicism at the world yet hold his passion to destroy the Novus Lux and the demons it worships, even the one considered their god. He is willing to be hailed a demon himself in his goals for what he believes to be the greater good and to truly bring forth a world free of evil. However, with his goals comes recurring dreams of a woman claiming to be his grandmother’s spirit reminding him to bring forth a new light to the people and not destroy their faith- words that haunt yet inspire Rousreuel.
