The Dragon Chronicles pg. 4

They must travel across Tyrluk, through Espar Forest, Shining Moon River, across Skull Crag Mountain and across Starwater to get to a hidden tunnel, “The Marovine Tunnels,” in Elversult. From there, the tunnels will take them secretly to Kulta to their greatest foe yet…Mortimer. Along the way they’ll each pick up a magical item in one of the places they go through or one of the foes that they defeat. At Skull Crag Mountain, they can decide to go over and be safer w/out riches, or go under and encounter stronger creatures and plenty of riches. Whichever way they go, they will still come out in Elversult. There they can rest for a few days if they want to and then begin on their journey south to the cruel harsh land of Kulta, ruled over by Mortimer the evil sorcerer. Once you come out of the Forgotten Tunnels, you can see a big blue dragon getting closer and closer to you. Right before you kill the blue dragon, something big and shiny falls off him and lands lower on the mountainside. Once you get closer, you can tell that it’s a big blue dragon’s scale. Whoever goes and picks it up will automatically get the sense that it needs to be somewhere warm and safe. (It will hatch in approx. 1 week.) When you get to Elversult, Ben’s slave, Drusilia, thanks you kindly for taking her back to her homeland and tells Queen Alexandria that even though you are an orc, you are very valiant and kind hearted, unlike all the rest. Once you get into the throne room, you can see Queen Alexandria and she is a very beautiful elven woman. You can see 2 Siberian tigers at her side, one of which she is petting. She then tells you that since you were nice enough to save her friend, Themoirs, daughter from the slavers, that you and your friends are safe here when need be and that you can have this special weapon. She then asks why you are there and once you tell her King Himo sent you, she makes everyone leave her throne room and begins telling you about the secret tunnels known to only a very limited number of people as the Marovine Tunnels. She then begins to tell you about the tunnels and that there is a dragon lying dormant under the mountain in the tunnels. She cautions you to not take any of his treasure, that if you make the slightest noise he will awaken and surely kill you all. She also tells you that he is the first of many experimented upon dragons. “Scientist Ellyjobell Nackle learned how to take a simple trolls blood and mix it with that of a dragons. She noted that since trolls can just shed a piece of themselves and breed, and a dragon is a big, fierce monster, why not mix the two? Her first experiments were of half-dragon trolls, but they all went boom. She then began her first experiment on dragons, which she noticed that even though there were only males that she was experimenting on, somehow a baby dragon popped up. She then began searching around and found what looked like a scale. Once she picked it up, she realized that it was her lucky day, a dragon’s egg. Now she knew her dreams came true, but the daddy of the egg, Kepesk wouldn’t let her anywhere close to his baby and started a revolt for how she had treated him. The other experimented dragons then began to revolt and then broke out and have begun mating amongst normal dragons since.” The offspring from these dragons can reproduce by dropping their scales and mating, but their fertilization % is more difficult. ( DM: Rolls 05- hatches the eggs.) Scale fertilization will, hopefully, once again put dragons on the map. No longer do they need a mate to reproduce, but just by shedding a scale or so and they can possibly do it. Mortimer’s commanders recruit more and more evil and like-minded beings into the group all the time. Vola is in Kulta spying on Mortimer. The king sent her in to see what Mortimer was up to, if anything. He needed to see if Mortimer was a threat to him or his kingdom. About halfway through the tunnel, you see a big red dragon. You can either sneak by it, or attempt to awaken it. If you awaken it, you will have a pretty good fight on your hands. (DM info If they happen to find one of the scale eggs, and then tell Queen Alexandria about it, she will tell them about how that Kepesk (Storm,) was one of the unfortunate voluntary individuals that let Ellyjobell Nackle experiment on him.) If you do wake him and promise him to kill her, then Kepesk will let you (even though it kills him to let you have ANY of his precious stash,) take one thing of your choice from his pile of gold and goods. Once to Kulta you will encounter Vola, who was sent here a few years ago. You will think of her as a foe, until she finds out that you are here to defeat the evil sorcerer and save her and the princess. Vola has been in Kulta, doing his bidding for about 2 years now. She knows the lay out of every floor and knows most of his weaknesses. You will have to sneak by all of the sorcerers henchmen, find your way to the castle and then find your way through all the floors of the castle to get to the sorcerer. Before you can even enter the castle, the 3 skulled door asks you a riddle. “I am the great sorcerer, Mortimer Hinkle, who is on his way to becoming an all-powerful god… This is my tower (all) , and none may enter (left), unless you have the right answer (right). If you do not answer correctly, you will not be allowed in (all).” The riddle is … “What has six limbs, likes good company and fights for the right cause? (middle)” (The answer is A Centaur, or just Centaur.) If you make it, he lets you through, if not, he starts yelling “TRESPASSER!!!” If you can’t guess the riddle, you have to beat 3 troglodytes and 3 monitor lizards that are coming from the left and right off the staircase. Once you make it almost to the top floor, you can see a young green dragon pacing up and down the hallway. Once you beat the dragon and get closer to the door, you can hear a man and a seductive sounding woman talking about the king, Princess Calypso and Vola. He says, “That puny half-elf, Himo, will more than surely have sent a pitiful excuse of an assassination team to kill me to get his daughter back. I don’t have the time to sit here and argue with you about promoting you to commander. I need her soul NOW. If you can’t help me accomplish my goals, I will find someone else who can. Now leave my sight.” Once you enter the room, you can see a very pissed off succubus about 2 feet from the door, apparently fixing to leave and she’s looking like she might want to hurt you. Once you kill her, you can see Calypso tied down to a sacrificial altar in the middle of the room. You see all sorts of potion materials, spell components, a sacrificial dagger, an ancient looking spellbook and a few bowls of liquid on one end of the altar. If you notice the spell that his spellbook is flipped open. You know he is going to steal her soul, but you‘re not sure, because the soul bind spell is altered on the next page, possibly to suck the soul into oneself instead of a gem. If you can think hard enough, you can figure out that if you get the bowls of liquid splashed on him and read the “Absorb Soul” spell, his soul will leave his body and enter yours. If you use the “Soul Bind” spell, you can trap his soul into a gem using the same method, but you’d need a gem good enough to do so. If you do somehow “beat” Mortimer, you will need to then return to Famridel to show the King that you’ve rescued his daughter from the evil sorcerer and saved the kingdom. When you return with the king’s daughter, you will be rewarded handsomely.
