Highest temperature someone could survive long enough to feel pain

Weirdly, I was reading today something about Home Alone on Cracked.com about the fire traps he sets in the movie, such as the blow torch, which burns at 3,000 degrees fahrenheit. Joe Pesci stands under it for 7 seconds screaming in pain, but in real life 7 seconds would be enough to destroy...

    How bad is too bad?

They'll be as evil as is required. I recently wrote story about a king who outlawed chairs (it really needs more context :p ), it doesn't sound that evil in the grand scheme of things, but no one in the kingdom was allowed to sit, anywhere, no matter the circumstance. Sitting was, best case...

    Fantasy, Anime, and Character Ideals

Characters having defining ideals is certain a popular Eastern trope, I don't know exactly how it compares to Western usage, off the top of my head there are more examples of it being used with anime and manga. It certainly doesn't have to be formulaic, ideals can be pretty accurate portrayed...

    Hair Question

This is kind of funny, when I was young this was referred to as 'the coo's lick'. Coo being slang/colloquialism for Cow; sort of referring to the idea that if a cow lick the whole way up your face, the saliva would act like a hair gel of sorts. I know that's not a particularly great...

    Killing off the main character

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. A mech anime that 8 episodes in, out of nowhere, kills it's main character. It shocking, a big swerve and you have no real idea where the show is going beyond that. It runs for a further 19 episodes (should've been longer in my opinion, but it's still amazing). All...

    How much do you plan?

I change, from idea to idea. I also don't just write fantasy. The crime thriller I started has a lot of detail within it's planning. However, the drama I'm writing has no plan outside of a few details in my head. With the crime thriller, there's a lot of head games stuff, mysteries to unravel...

A Quasi Diesel punk Science-Fantasy Sky World.

Okay, that's really good. The initial baseline for tech now functions better because you are applying a LHR l logic to the system. It's becoming easier to imagine these machines. I think this is well on its way to something fantastic. With everything you've came up with just ask yourself 'how?'...

A Quasi Diesel punk Science-Fantasy Sky World.

Tech in the material sense I can picture, that's fine. However take fallout for example. This is a verse were the transistor was a very late discovery. As a result the world doesn't have any microcomputers. All machine are big, bulky things, yet things like power armour can function because of...

A Quasi Diesel punk Science-Fantasy Sky World.

I'm kind of on the same page as WooHooMan, the bullet point summary is a bit messy so I'm not entirely sure what I'm reading, having said that, that wasn't what you wanted feedback on, so bare with me while I see if I can give you something worthwhile. First of all, the gaseous body with the...

Don't know what to do with my world.

I agree, key the world sit their for a while and work on other stuff. You'll likely cone back with fresh ideas, and just keep note of any you have. That's what I do. I jump between what I'm working on, it's dependent on mood for me. I have all sorts of stuff in the pipeline.

    Trapdoors - too silly?

Yea, screw my idea. Go with any if the two above, I already like them better. They could probably burn work to be honest. What I would say in terms if the phobia thing, the underground cavern suggests he'd be falling a long time, a good subversion could be to not have any long plunge into a...
