Grace Under Fire - Book 1 of The Gift of Grace

Stuart E Wise just posted his review over at Fantasy Book Reviews; found here Grace Under Fire by Frog and Esther Jones reviewed on Fantasy Book Review

Amazon: Good at Selling Books, Bad at Publishing Them.

Actually, after reading that article, it looks like Amazon isn't bad at publishing, Barnes and Noble just doesn't want to sell books published by Amazon. That makes a certain amount of sense. This is one more move in a game of brinksmanship between the two giant retailers. Both of them...

    Does my villain sound original?

Utopia Justifies the Means - Television Tropes & Idioms Is it original? Not completely. But so what? Originality of concept shouldn't be your goal. Writing a good book should be. In fact, if you write something that is absolutely original, there's a good chance that you have also...

    Main Character name Dilemma

I basically agree. Lilith's a solid Talmudic (not Biblical) name with a lot of demonic connotation. If you've got a character that is in any way involved with demons, I say go for it. Heck, even Kramer's ex was named Lilith. If you're really set on having something original, just tweek it...

Grace Under Fire - Book 1 of The Gift of Grace

We're up to two and a half five star reviews on Amazon, and one on Smashwords. (I say two and a half because its three, but one of them is my overly proud mother, and that doesn't actually count). Also, my publisher is offering a discount on Smashwords; you can check it out here: A New...

How large could you make a bow?

Yeah, but this is a troll we're talking about. He may not care too much about that sort of thing.

Grace Under Fire - Book 1 of The Gift of Grace

Well, since the cat's already out of the bag over here:http://mythicscribes.com/forums/publishing/5133-so-most-self-published-material-poorly-edited-post73051.html#post73051 I may as well post this: Amazon: Grace Under Fire (The Gift of Grace): Esther Jones,Frog Jones...

So is most self-published material poorly edited?

Hooray! I love that it was Esther who got hold of you, and not my posts on this very site. I'm glad you liked it. To get back on topic, we can't really use our book as an example of a poorly edited self-published book. Grace Under Fire isn't self-published, it's small press, as you say...

    Ask me about Law

I tend to view my relationship with cops a lot like the old Sam-the-Sheepdog v. Wiley Coyote. We check into work, argue with each other, check out, then go have a beer.

    Ask me about Law

Yup. In a jury trial, the fight in front of the judge boils down to what evidence can be presented to the jury, what arguments can be made to the jury, and what instructions are given to the jury in order to determine the case. In a bench trial, there is no jury. The judge decides everything.

    Ask me about Law

Dog cop! Otherwise known as the probable-cause generating machine. I hate going up against K9; juries can be persuaded that the cops are powermad liars. They will almost always believe the damned cute puppy dog, though. (A note here: It is not actually my opinion that cops are powermad...

    Ask me about Law

Well, that's more of a stylistic question than anything else. That said, if we're dealing with a jury trial I can only believe that there's going to be some universal things that just won't change whether you've got faeries or humans. OK, I think I follow. This is looking a little bit more...

    Ask me about Law

I've been a practicing attorney since 2005. I've been both prosecution and defense counsel, as well as the lead on more civil cases than I can conveniently count. I am licensed in both Idaho and Washington state, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Idaho Law School. It...

Cross-bolt to the throat - Survivable?

    1. If this is a character that has intentionally put together a non-lethal crossbow bold, then don't go with the fire-hardened or a complicated breakaway tip. You do need the weight of the metal for true flight over distance, but you don't need that metal formed to a point. Just make the head...
