Amanita, sex is much better than violence. :P ... Sorry I had to, totally meant as a joke though. I uber agree on the movie mention though, what's accepted in written media has been expanded considerably due to the influence of movies. In my opinion.
I exceed expectations in the lagging sector of my skills. I've completed two, but worked on god knows how many. Then I get that itch. The type that hits you when you've gone a few too many hours without a smoke, and sit down and let the dam open. I've come to terms, that writing is...
I see the varying levels of violence to be more of an eye-opener to the reader. One more reason that I love Joe Abercrombie, in his first law series, he would be violent without excessive gore in characters that had a more likable demeanor, or that where more humbled to their actions. Where as...
so my current plot that I'm toying around with, I've played at many p.o.v.'s and such. Now however, thinking that in media res is the way to go. Never used this particular technique before and was wondering if anyone had pointers for the best execution.
I've found problems both reading and writing prologues. The first stint where I really set out to write everything that was on my mind, and the story that I've now given life to(a meager unpaid life, but hey, they just haven't found a home yet) began in what is now book 2, and the prologue...
Good eye, ... Had my headphones on. Must not've heard the comp, I suppose I deafly continued insubtanitially making my point by falsely presenting th case, but in my defense...I was typing drunkenly. >.< :D
Be as nitpicky as possible, it makes writing fun.
@mirrorrorrim ... Uber thanks, and have definitely thought about the possibilities involved. On the note in particular of how they refer to the disciplines of the similar but different practices they follow. Plot point: the more stupid it seems, the more blood will be shed. Lol.
I've read plenty of books where I hated, couldn't stand, loathed, and downright cursed at often, the main characters. It kinda gave me a drive though. Like when the dumb blonde in a slasher film opens the door in a now deserted house(due to all of her friends being murdered or abandoning her...
@Joe... Directly after reading the list, I immediately thought of the first law series. Can't get enough of Joe Abercrombie, Best Served Cold is pretty amazing too.
Love the fact that I can be open about my hate of Stephanie Meyer here. O.O Ann Rice has a place in my heart, as will Interview with a Vampire, forever.
I like to build on imagery, and as a huge Batman fan, the idea of the Joker has usually been my base visualization of evil. A man who has no concern for the damage he causes, the destruction he orchestrates, or the chaos ensued in his name. Not a villain of honor, or purpose, but rather that...
I like to base my religions around whatever my main conflict is. So what I'm currently working on is a world that put's a lot into honor. Old T.H. White sort of thing, and I'm trying to customize the religion so it's more of a, that's what they where taught to believe more over that's what...
Not so much like Diablo but interesting. The first one's slow to build on the story but keeps you're interest all the same, poor map building. In parts of the game audio's required, as you have no map, and are listening for wind. :/ Fun though.
Hey everybody,
I'm Merc. Avid reader and writer, with many many hobbies, career in swing, and personal life never unattended. I'm always going, and change what I'm writing on constantly, it's a problem of mine. Currently I'm reading four or five different books, and can't put any of them...
