Thanks, Joe! I am told a few times that my work has that 70s vibe, although, surprisingly, that era is not even in visual radar. But I guess it's one of those happy accidents. :)
The hacking this is not fixed yet, kinda messed up. But there's always hope.
Hey all.
Painted this cover for a writer friend last year. Just the image. I've changed the title and name in this mock up as per the request, for some reason he doesn't want that to be available online.
And last week I was testing a few covers in this 3d mock up thingy, so I did this...
I agree with @Tom, focusing on the character works better because people can relate easily.
I'd add that if for some reason you don't wanna talk about the character, personify other elements.
Like, although I didn't spend much time in creating a better elevator-pitch, my workable pitch is: "A...
Thanks, Joe! I made that up, but yes, I guess I should keep it simple.
I'm attaching another one, would like to know if that works better. Thanks! :)

Here's a cover of my dark short story/novelette (MALAHA) that I am currently working on.
I need some help in deciding the Author's name color. I like the darker version, but then my friends prefer white font. So I thought I should ask what you people think, which works better?

Oh, and I forgot to add that the cover art is kind of genre based. Like scifi/fantasy books usually have detailed painted covers, where as romance novels do not.
It is a good idea to check other books in your genre/subgenre, and see how the cover art is approached. There's a reason books have...
Thank you for the kind words! Well, I am pretty new to writing, and I just hope to not disappoint you. :)

Hi. I've been working as a freelance artist doing book cover illustrations, interiors and such, mostly for independent authors. And in that the story comes first, and the cover is based on that.
Now I am trying to focus on my personal project where I am painting covers before writing the story...
I am a cover designer/painter, I don't do photo-manipulations, but I think the basics apply to that as well.
Here's a thing, the cover serves one main purpose: To Grab The Attention of the reader. It is my job to make them pick the book, then it is the writers job to make sure they don't put...
I want fantasy to make sense. I want it to seem logical despite all it's ridiculousness.
I don't care if it is a world where dragons wear a tutu, smoke pipe and talk french; as long as you make me believe that this could very well be true!

Here's something I found online; fairly old post, but if fb's methods are still the same, this might help some of us here.
I think we all agree that is a stupid rule, but then what can we do other than skipping fb ads. I might give it a try.
