I've just come across this site and thought it could be useful to others here, particularly those writing settings in the past. I'm writing pseudo-medieval/middle ages, so I've been using Dictionary.com and its word origins as guidance before I found this. I don't know why I didn't search for this before...

Great resource. I especially like how you can put in a "common" word like "gear" or "blade," and see listings for a whole host of related words...
