What do you think of my Avatar?

I like to change up my avatar from time to time,
But this time I think I’ve crossed a line.
Too bold, too garish, it doesn’t feel like mine,
Lend me your thoughts, give me a sign.

P. S. Feel free to ask or comment about your own avatar, but please don’t mention my poor prose.
P. P. S. I’m just a little bored silly.

This may come off as a bit of a silly question at first, but if you look beyond that, and poke around a bit at the concept, it becomes kind of interesting. The avatars we choose for ourselves are, in a way, a replacement for our face.

The way we look when we meet someone reflects what impression this person gets of us, which is why it's important to try and look our best for job interviews etc.

In the online space, we don't have our real faces to show off to the world, but rather just pictures, and they can look any which way we want them to.

My profile picture, for example, led someone to believe I was a lot younger than I really am - even though by any logic, there's no way to tell.

in the end, go with a profile picture you feel comfortable with, regardless of whether you feel it truly represents who you are or not.

PS, I'm also kind of bored. :p

Totally agree. Like the saying goes, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. I try to express how I feel with my avatar a little. My first avatar was a kid viking with a helmet a bit too big, because this forum is my first foray into virtual socialising, and I felt like a child. Then I became more confident and changed it to the stylised Odin face. Now I’m coming out of my shell and my humour is emerging (good job scribblers, you’re in for it now, ), hence The Tick.

Here’s some quotes for fun.
“You're not going crazy you're going sane in a crazy world!” ― The Tick
“Destiny dressed you this morning my friend, and now fear is trying to pull off your pants. If you give up, if you give in, then you're gonna end up naked with fear just standin' there laughing at your dangling unmentionables.” ― The Tick

I've had several koalas, a basset hound, a marten (evil car-eating bastards), multiple blocks of cheese, multiple bottles of olive oil, olive oil in a glass, a slice of pizza, a bunch of other drawings other than my current one, a celtic legend and the color orange as my profile pictures in the past. You're fine probably.

I haven't changed my profile picture since I joined. :p

I like yours. It's weird, yes, but I like how distinctive it is.

When I chose mine, I tried to go with something fantasy-ish that would be appropriate for the forum. I also wanted something that had a face/person in it and made it obvious I was female. It did take a bit of getting used to at first, though. The pic I'm most used too is an animated rainbow pop-tart cat I chose when I was like ten and this is a bit muted, by comparison.

[sigh]. I think I’m gunna have to change my avatar soon. Having Patrick Warburton staring at me every time I jump on MythicScribes is starting to freak me out a little :(

Yeah. This image of the Tick is what I had when I started this thread, but I like the new one better. It’s a little more understated, don’t you think?
