How to Write Prophecy

ThinkerX

Myth Weaver
I took a radically different approach to prophecy as a means of fixing a plot issue in 'Empire: Country.' Basically, there was ceremonial dagger consecrated to Saint Mithras. Dagger had two components - an ordinary looking symbol of Mithras, much like those carried by most of the saint's followers, and the blade itself. Together, they made an instrument deadly to demons. Apart...well they didn't even radiate magic. The MC's came across the separated pieces of this weapon without realizing what they were: Sir Cortez was given the symbol by a village cleric who'd obtained it from a wandering priestess, and later the blade turned up as the 'sword' of a puppet knight (literally). Combining the two saved the MC's hides. It was only much later, that Tia, the most intelligent and best educated of the POV characters realized they were *supposed* to find and combine the separated components, which meant that the person who split them up (the wandering priestess) could see the future - aka a 'secret prophet.'
