A literary anylysis of Sword & Sorcery

Just came across this very interesting thing. (Download at the bottom.) It's a 300 pages beast, so I'm not far into it yet, but I thought it might be an interesting read for people with interest in writing new proper Sword & Sorcery material.

Well, he almost lost me there when he referred to Cormac Mac Art as a 'Viking.' I think he may have confused Eddings and Eddison further on, too.

That sounds like oversights that weren't spotted, but I don't think really affect the statements he's making.
I've read through most of it, and while I think most of is completely correct, it also really isn't anything new. It's retreading the same basic elements that every long article on the subject makes. I thought it's neat that he's mentioning the concept of the numinous, which I think certainly applies here and I've not seen others write about before, but that doesn't add a great amount of new substance to the whole piece.
