Any good modern epics?

I really enjoy reading stories such as the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost, Beowulf, etc.

Does anyone know of any modern day authors who still publish this style of literature?

I mean, Does thou art knoweth...ah screw it.

I can't think of any modern works which cling too closely to the old epic styles. Rather, most high fantasy today borrows a few elements and leaves the rest. At its heart, these epics tell the story of a single character and follow them (usually him) on a long journey, and that is a common enough story. I'm currently reading A Wizard of Earthsea, and its style is reminiscent of the epic tradition in many ways. Though I haven't read it yet, I hear The Name of the Wind does so as well.

To harken back to the old epics - if you hadn't read Edmund Spencer's The Faerie Queene yet, it is modeled on the older works and might be up your alley.
