Burnham's Celestial Handbook

ThinkerX

Myth Weaver
It seems we get a fair number of people here asking about stellar mythology, or looking for semi-hard facts on stars, planets and whatnot. 'Burnham's Celestial Handbook' is a good place to start:

Three volumes, arranged alphabetically by constellation name, with something for the mythologist, student, and amateur astronomer. Includes snippets of the mythologies associated with certain stars. Shows dated illustrations on the orbits of binary stars (how those orbits were determined). Descriptions of exotic star types. First volume contains a short and dated, but readable introduction to astronomy.

Good reference, though dated.
