Creating a board game?

Myth Weaver
Yes, I have. Several in fact. But the production quality is low, and my passion is not there. When I looked at the high quality of games that hit the market today, I know I don't have the resources for that, and don't see having the energy to pursue it. So....for a small group of gamers, we have played some I made up. And that's probably where it will end.

I really want to make a board game with ideas such as these:

Bandits
Thief's
Monsters
Equipment stores
Treasure
Wizards
Royalty
Merchants
Forest paths
Shortcuts
Companions
Bosses
Team up cards
Rare resources
Map location scrolls
Cards
Missions
Guards
Currency's
Castles
Enchantments
Dice mini games
Mini puzzles
Weapons
Armor
Cities
Occultism
Pack animals
Horses
Stealing
Random encounters
City shortcuts
taxes
Personal guards
Card shops
Riddles
City creation
Camp sites
Rituals
Card trading
Backpacks
Quests
Quest rewards

I have considered it but I lack the skills to put the theoretical parts into practice. As in creating a physical game board, pieces and so on.

I was thinking there could be a layout similar to monopoly, although with a fantasy theme instead.
Squares such as monster squares, market squares and so on.
The ability to put traps on squares, snaring those who land there.
Thief squares, with a chance of having items stolen and such.
Short cuts through the map areas.
Puzzles and mini games.
Stores where various items can be bought.

That sounds really cool. I'd say get yourself a monopoly board and some white Duct tape and sharpies and go to town. Work on the mechanics, then worry about designing your own board and distancing yourself from the copyright infringement.

I have an idea for a board game too, but I need another research rabbit-hole like I need a third nipple. I can't even figure out what to do with the ones I've got.

My favourite board is scrabble, and I don’t think you could improve on that. I like chess too but I’m not a very good strategist. I also don’t think you could improve that either.

I want to make a board game based on my novel "Nesneria"
Although im not sure how the layout should work.
Should I include cities of Nesneria?
If so how many?
Should I add shortcuts and paths between different types of landscapes?

I was daydreaming, and came up with Arm Angel, a worm plat-former. It eats oranges and has a feather. A bit girlish.
