Execution devices

What ways have your world diverged from the real world in terms of execution devices? In my, I launch from the fact that the guillotine was having continual refinements up to around their last beheading around 1977.

The Alsatian, French, German empire that took over the then crumbling US empire, then proceeded to replace lethal injection, that relies on a supply of chemicals, with an arm carried firearm that functions similarly to a Guillotine, except with the able to carry out executions on the spot.

I'm sure there are other methods, I just prefer guillotines in stories.

I have at least one world where the crucifixion got worse. Something called the Half Salt. Starts out normal enough Roman style, then get's amped up a bit. The crosses are put far out on the beach during low tide, enough that when it comes high, they're over the top of their waist, the person whipped with bloody and shallow wounds on their legs, then left to die in a variety of painful ways as the sea takes them in. Be it sea birds, sharks, fish, drowning and other ways. It's, not fun.

Yea I know right? I guess it puts things in perspective when The French Revolution was supposedly "progressive". I guess this was what they were referring to.
