Well hello there, First of all my name is Dave and I am 25 years old.

I have been writing for many years on and off, though nothing has really blossomed into the known world. I absolutely love writing, building new worlds and taking myself away from issues the revolve around us in the "real life".
I have always had a soft spot for fantasy, dreaming of seeing my name sat there on the shelves and letting people have a view of the world I often live in.
I am also an avid reader, owning more books than I actually have space for so family take care of the storage issues and every so often I swap around/ add to the collection. Another goal of mine to have a house big enough to dedicate a room to being a study/library. The inner child in me would give all to have something as grand as the library in 'Beauty and the Beast' :p.

I am currently working on an unnamed fantasy novel that I hope to finish the first draft within the next month or so, I also have a few other works in progress including another fantasy, an erotic tragedy and a detective thriller.

A slight weak point I seem to have encountered is my love of pen and paper. Quite a few tree's have been scribbled with my words and now the rigorous task of typing it up commences, though this has allowed me to edit as I go so as in much of life there are ups and downs.
I found MS and after reading through articles and forum posts I find myself drawn towards the community and hoping to work together with you all so that we may reach our dreams and succeed in our goals.
I am also looking for friends with a like nature that I can bounce ideas, receive criticism from and generally blow off some steam without having to go into explanations and definitions of words I use, I am sure some of you know what I mean.

    Many thanks.
    xx

    Hi, Dave!

I'm the same with pen and paper - especially in terms of development. Although I take my iPad with me when I go to a cafe, that's usually so I can scroll through maps. Notes are always taken with pen and paper and need to be transfered to my comp once I'm back home (or the week after, or the week after that etc).

Nothing like a good note pad, a trusty pen and lots of scribbling!

I know the feeling, it is a daunting task sometimes, especially when I have an estimate of 25k words for one of my stories. Ahh the benefits to riding a bus to work.

I just find it's more intimate and it allows me to scribble bits here and there - whatever pops into my head - in a way that I can't seem to coherently do on a computer.

I sometimes scribble bits like that by sending myself a text when I'm on the run but by and large I feel there's something to pen and paper that the digital age hasn't been able to integrate just yet.
