Hi all!

I just found this forum, and after a bit of poking about the open areas, it looks like a nifty place to hang around. :)

I go by ixris, and while I've been writing for a couple decades now (woof), I've never published anything. I'm currently working on a project that hopefully will be the one that feels right to punt into the world, bejeweled and bedazzled with all my hopes and dreams.

To head off what seems to be the common icebreaker question: Despite all my reading love being for women's fiction, literature, and scifi, I seem to be a fantasy and horror writer in my soul. My current project is a secondary-world dark fantasy set in something kinda-sorta like Minoan Crete and having a good ol' time playing in a sandbox full of gender and eldritch tree ghosts.

Now here's MY forum ice-breaker question: Are you a coffee or tea person? Please feel free to be as detailed as you like!

Looking forward to meeting ya'll!

Howdy Ixris, Welcome here.

I drink neither Tea or Coffee. And have never liked either one.

Hot chocolate, I will do ;)

Thanks for the welcome! Follow-up question: How many marshmallows go in your ideal hot chocolate?

Heheh.... I prefer whipped creme....but at work, I just get the milk substitute.

But...the answer to marshmallows is as many as I can fit.

Perfection! 💯

I'm not a chocolate lover on the whole, but sometimes that craving strikes, and I'm the same. EMBARASSING amount of marshmallows! :D

Welcome Ixris, I too find horror when I look into my soul. I drink tea (milk no sugar, good and strong) lemon and ginger tea, coffee (milk no sugar or latte) and hot chocolate (whipped cream and a flake, never cinnamon).

Hello, Ixris! Nice to meet you, my name's Iris! I don't drink tea or coffee... 😅 I do, however, enjoy lemonade, and like pmmg, I like hot chocolate with whipped cream! I especially enjoy it with a hint of peppermint!

Hi Ixris, and welcome! Sounds like it will be a very interesting read.

I'm a coffee person for the most part. Just cofee and milk, no sugar, and I don't make the coffee super strong. I can't drink very much because I'm ridiculously caffeine sensitive, but I still love it 😅 When I drink tea, I drink cinnamon apple, or very occasionally green tea. Outside of tea or coffee, hot chocolate is the best!

What you write about sounds really interesting. I like the image of a sandbox full of gender and eldritch tree ghosts.

I believe I drink a liter of tea a day. But I'll usually have a small cup of coffee in the morning.
I also go through a lot of honey, related to the tea.

How about you?

Hey, hey Ixris! Welcome to our humble abode! We hope you enjoy your stay!

And yeah, I like both iced tea and coffee, so not really breaking the ice, but, putting it to good use ;)

Heeeeey, thanks for the welcome fellow resident of horror-ville! :) Are you a loose-leaf or a bag tea drinker, can I pry?

Hey Iris - here's hoping we don't get too mixed up! :) A lot of autocorrect likes to make my handle into your name, lol!

Wow, a LOT of hot chocolate folks here! :) Gonna give you big agree on the peppermint in the hot chocolate - delish!

One of our local coffee shops once did a half cold brew coffee half lemonade drink, and oh my word I am NOT over it, best drink I ever had, I am still pining over it years later.

Thanks for the welcome! :D Coffee lover AND caffeine sensitive sounds so rough, though! 😭 I usually find the fuss of -making- coffee really more than I want to handle, in which case I keep a thing of coffee ice cream in the freezer.

Gosh I hope it's interesting for how much I've been fiddling with it for the last 13 months lol!

My partner got me into coffee the other year, so I like my coffee medium-dark roasted with sugar, a touch of salt, marshmallows and just a splash of heavy cream, and if i can get a coconut coffee flavor, then I'm -real- set. I also like cold brew with no sugar and just cream.

Tea... I drink cheap black tea that comes in 100 packs (SEVERAL MANY cups a day) or fancy loose leaf blacks and greens - LOVE a monkey-picked oolong or a tippy black. No sugar or milk on these puppies, drink that stuff hot and standard. My real weirdo proclivities come out in that I also like standard oolong cold and sweet, so that's my go-to for when we can make the hike to the bubble tea place (it's so far away!), or when I'm really wanting something absolutely oversteeped. I'm also kind of into tisengs / herbal teas, and I love a lavender tea, but I have to be careful since there's usually something in those that'll mess with my meds.

I wish I could do honey in my tea, but it throws the flavor off for me. When I'm sick though, peppermint tea with a boatload of honey is the way for me. I told my partner last time I was sick and she offered to make it for me "OK squeeze the honey into the cup and when you think 'this is surely the most honey someone could want in their tea' ADD MORE." turned out perfect! ;)

Hey, hey Ixris! Welcome to our humble abode! We hope you enjoy your stay!

Thanks so much for the welcome!

I'd say it's a WARM welcome, but with that much ice...... a CHILLY RECEPTION. Perfect for this time of year - brisk and soothing. :D

Hey ixris. Minoan Crete is fascinating isn’t it?

Coffee all way the way for me. Although limiting it at the moment…
Hey there! :D

Not gonna lie - I've got kind of a thing for minotaurs and wild happenings of the ancient Mediterranean in general. Wanted kind of a physically isolated vibe while also giving me some fun boats to mess with. (although.... my partner DID just leave me the line 'this is a LOT of boats info...' on one of my drafts, so maybe ...... I overshot. ;) )
