A few hints. Don't eat the stew or drink the beer if there's scales floating in either. Always tip the barmaid or you're more likely to get the scaly stew or beer. And always check your chair for cats or halflings before sitting down.

My book in a nut shell: It's a YA urban fantasy
Kathleen has had a bad time of it, with everyone close to her either disappearing or dieing, and to make things worst she may be going crazy cause her dead foster sister is haunting her and a odd shadow is stalking her. After being attacked by said shadow, she wakes to find that the world is full of mythical beings and she is one of them, a fae to be precises, and yet she still has to go to school.
