How to get permission for lyric quotes?

So, I submitted my second novel "Happy Days" a few weeks ago. My content evaluation noted that I quote "Welcome to the Jungle," and "Don't Worry, Be Happy." They've informed me that I need copyright permission to use the lyrics....

I have no idea where to start.

Hi,

Not an expert in this by amy means. But go online and google the songs. That should tell you who the writers are and who owns the rights to them. Then send them a letter. I think - though I stress it is only a thought - that if it's just titles as you've quoted - then you don't need copyright permission.

Cheers, Greg.

you will have to contact the people who hold the copyright. Bands can be contacted through their management, and you can also contact their publishing company or record label for the copyright information.

I believe you can contact the U.S. Copyright office (easily found online) and get that info.
