I like to wear a hat

I like to wear a hat when I write. I don't know why, I just do. It is usually a baseball cap of some type. It is not like I cannot write without the hat, it is not a magic hat, but I just prefer to wear a hat when I write.

Also, I prefer to write later in the day. I am a bit of a night owl, anyway. I would rather stay up all night working on a project than getting up earlier to do the same thing.

I also like to have a glass of water near by.

Do you have any quirks, rituals or preferences that you use when you write? Anything you do to get you in the mood? Set the tone?

Ooh!! At home, I would try to get my room as dark as I could so that I burn a candle (because candles are wonderful), and then I would use the blue light on my lap-desk to write anyway. I love candlelight, but I can't see enough to write with it.

In my dorm room, I plug my headphones in my ears letting my roommate think I'm listening to music so she won't talk to me while I'm working. (ADD is not my friend when I'm not in silence.)
