If you love WW II airplanes - War Thunder

Sam Evren

Troubadour
So a friend of mine tried to sell me on a free-to-play called War Thunder the other day. I'm highly resistant to free-to-play, mainly do to my age - and logic telling me that it's a model that just can't sustain itself.

Anyway, I decided to try it out after watching several You Tube "Let's Plays." I have to admit - it's a right hoot!

I've been playing as much as I can get in - so much so that I haven't even really had time to figure out many of the systems.

It's not your typical MMO, the best I can describe it - in the arcade mode - is sort of like playing deathmatch with toy airplanes.

It does have historical battles and simulator matches with more stringent rulesets.

If you're a fan of World War II aviation, it's a near sinful amount of fun for free. Check it out. It's available for Mac and PC from the War Thunder site and Steam. It's in Open Beta, at the moment.
