    Congratulations on setting up Long Count Press. Your focus on the 'rich cultural heritage' of Mesoamerica sounds really interesting. I think working with the existing history, stories and culture of the land where you live (or if you don't live there a land that inspires you) is really important-keeping the old tales of a place alive yet reworking and retelling them in new ways. Existent myths can be a really deep and productive source for fantasy writing. Or so I've found with the myths, folk and fairytales of the British Isles anyhow.

    Great interview. I was really inspired by the call for submissions, so I put together a story outline and did a bunch of research, but the story isn't coming together. Argh.
