   Fixed horizontal elements irritate me because they take up reading space and I want to know if the chat bar outside of Chat is somehow removable. I checked under settings and such did not seem to be there.
   If there isn't, I'll just use AdBlock for the unintended use that I normally use it for: readability improver.

   I'm not a staff member, but I do know the answer to your question. There is a setting where you can disable chat, if you click the bar and see the 'settings' button, there is a checklist. One of the check-boxes says 'disable chat'
