My second idea

In the last hour, I got an idea besides my game-of-thrones-like-idea. I had the idea that some humans have special. These people can transform into animals. (It doesn’t matter, which animal.) They live, train and learn in a special academy/camp. But they are hunted by a company, which want their DNA. Do you like this idea? And can you look for books, which are similar.

Animorphs a series from the early 90's. Alien technology that amounted to magic that let them morph into whatever animal they managed to get a hold of to fight the infiltrating alien brain slug menace that was taking over Earth. No academy or camp, they had to learn to fight a war on their own and by the end of the series they had traveled through time, fought in space and at least one of their members was close to unhinged between the battles and the animals she tended to pick for the fights.
