Hello all,
I'm L. Catala (they/them), a writer in my late 30s currently working on my first fantasy novel (I have completed a literary novel a decade or so ago, but the less said about that one, the better).
My current project is an adult dark fantasy novel with elements of cosmic, psychological and body horror, with non-human protagonists, an otherworldy setting, and a bleak and nihilistic atmosphere. The story could be summarized as "designated hero turns against their would-be mentor", or "The Dark Crystal meets Apocalypse Now".
It's currently in the outlining stage, as I mostly have the broad strokes of the story down, but I'm still figuring out thematic and worldbuilding details.
I'm looking forward to discuss it and other things with people on this forum.
