Notifications and Options

I have two questions/feedback/suggestions I guess.

The first one is this: When you subscribe to a thread (which by default is automatically when you post in it) is there a way to have your notification thing light up when there are new posts? Right now I have to hunt down my subscription folder and check it. As it is, the only in forum notifications I seem to be able to get are "thanks". Is this a setting thing that I havent figured out yet or does this functionality just not exist yet? If it doesn't can we make it happen?

The second thing is this, I was checking out the settings, specifically the general settings, and the text seems to bunch up to the point where I can't see anything in the settings. I am guessing it is a chrome problem since I tried a different computer with explorer and it was alright.
