Novel November badge options - Tell me what you think

Novel November badges

These are three options I put together for a badge for folks who are participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge, but separate from the organization. Please let me know your thoughts along three areas:

  1. Color choices (colors here aren't final and can be changed; let me know if I should go for flat colors or gradients and what colors you think would look best)
  2. Font choice (I used Canva for the text)
  3. Text (The three options I put here, "Novel November," "NaNo Diaspora," and "NaNoNoMo" are just some ideas, so you can suggest others.)
Also if there's any other suggestions you have or any symbolism you think should be include, feel free to share!

Well...of course I like the gold one.

Nanonomo...funny.

I think they are fine. How much are you trying to expand this past this site?

Thanks for your input! Right now I'm only mentioning it here and on the NaNoWriMo and NaNoDiaspora2024 subreddits. Someone asked me about joining in an initiative to set up basically a full-blown alternative for NaNo including a website, but I have no interest in that. I don't really want to start a whole movement; I just saw a lot of comments on Reddit from people who really regret feeling they can't conscientiously take part with the NaNo organization and all that entails, and some of them were pretty grateful for alternative badges. But I have no interest in taking on all of the administrative difficulties of running something like NaNo if that makes sense.

Well...I was going to pull up some Nanowrimo badges to compare, but actually, I'd rather have yours

If its just meant to be kept small, I'd not go much further than what you got. I like the gold one.

Cool, glad you like it! Reddit agrees with you lol

The only thing some people mentioned is that the darker gold text on the lighter gold background is apparently hard to read for some people so I may change the color in the finalized version, but I agree with you that I don't need to spend a ton more time on this given that it's not meant to be an official thing. So I'll probably add an edited "final" version at some point and just leave it at that for anyone to download and use however they like.

I'd go for NoNoMo (November Novel Month), but that's just because I'm not part of the nation in question ;) As for the rest, I like the look of your first badge (the blue and yellow) both in font and colours. This is a nice initiative.

Funny, even though, I suppose Nano does mean national...I always just thought of it is anyone who wanted to. Never felt like an explicitly American things to me. But then...I never really cared about it anyway.

Many folks have reached 50k or are nearly there, so here are the finalized versions of the alternative badges. Download whichever one you like best and display it on your profile, website, or wherever else you feel like. Or you can just save it to your computer so you have something to show you finished the challenge this year.

I did get some good feedback when I last posted these, but I'm afraid I wasn't able to incorporate it because I was feeling pretty run down this week, especially with Thanksgiving. The only thing I did was change the color of the text on the Novel November one to make it more readable. Thanks anyway to everyone who took the time to offer feedback!
