Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney (or; OMG fantasy courtroom drama!)

I know I'm late on this, since the game came out in North America in August, but I only just found a Let's Play of it. (I am not cut out for Layton-style puzzle solving.) Anyway, if you know anything about either Layton or Ace Attorney, you're probably wondering how those two franchises could intersect. Can a steampunk archaeologist/"proper gentleman" and a near-future lawyer with a knack for saving doomed cases really be brought into each other's world?

No, so they're brought into another world.

This opens up tremendous possibilities on both sides of the coin. How can Layton's insight and rationality be useful in a society where formal logic hasn't been invented? How can Phoenix defend his clients with no forensics and a court stacked against the accused? And both of them have no idea what to make of a setting where dark sorcery can be discussed in the same breath as the day's weather.

I haven't seen enough of the game so far to evaluate it, but I'm already fascinated by the setting. I look forward to seeing how it develops.
