The Heist Trope

How do you resolve this? There is the idea of The Gollum and The Ring, or The Fitz and The Fool. It can be found in both fantasy and non-fiction. Possessing only to gain a deal only to lose to pride.

I’ve been having these weird thoughts lately like is any of this for real or not?

I think I would resolve this with either the successful execution of the heist, after much difficulty, or with a realization that the heist is more harmful than good to the MC or characters, and they grow instead, giving it up.

I dont think I have a heist in my current story, and I dont really go around picking from a bag of tropes, do you?
