I stubled over a nice page listing many common 'myths' about the 'Bad Old Days' and clarifying the actual, known facts about them.

Now, apart from this being educative and all... I started thinking. What if these were rumors/myths etc. told not abut the the people of the past.. but rather about another country/culture? They could be common misconceptions or outright propaganda.
And, as reality is always so much more fantasic as anything we can make up, I think list like these might be a very good starting point for those 'beliefs about foreign lands and people.'
I'd like to hear your thoughts... and if you like, your favorite 'myth' about the past or other folk, with the actual truth attached, if you have it.
