It's not possible to send Nissa as a hostage either.

Baldy's under the assumption that the enemy can understand everything she says, so rather than say she's not even considering the enemy's "deal," she's saying that. There's also something else I want to have her do, but it's gotta wait until after there are no hostiles to deal with.

And he did leave. To choose between two non-present people and one who would set the trap afire... ;3

No problem. I'm glad you posted that because it gave me a chance to have Baldhart say something else I didn't have her say in the first post.

Nihal got it, but I didn't type Baldy's thoughts since I felt it would be cheating to post the meaning behind her attempt at deception.

Indeed. Though Cadell didn't mean for Baldy to reply aloud -- he was speaking quietly, so hopefully only she would hear. XD Oh, well. Misunderstandings are fun to work with. ^^

It's all good. I like having Baldy pretend to be a cold-hearted witch with a bee in front of the enemy, so you gave me an excuse to do more of that.

Not now, since Baldy went and blew it by picking impossible hostages!

Oh... but did that really happen? (As in Steerpike PM'd what Batos heard?)

    LS has a good point, it's misleading and confusing to add things that Steerpike doesn't say actually happens. I'd go easy on the creative liberties if I were you. ^^;

Yeah, I thought Steerpike PM'd you, and you were posting what Batos heard. If not, please clarify, as your post implies the lizards are aggressive enough to kill each other, while Steerpike's GM post implies there's no fight in them at all. It is confusing, as Ireth said.

Though it may appear that others take creative liberties, Steerpike PMs info that only our characters (or their sidekicks) sense. Speaking for myself, I have Baldy-Nissa conversations that let players read info that Baldy won't or can't reveal to other characters. For example, the Goddess Brynhild actually communicated to Nissa, which I thought was interesting… but also inappropriate to converse about in-game. So I just let players read part of the message. What's written below may have appeared to be me being creative with Nissa when I posted it, but in fact everything in blue is written by Steerpike voicing Brynhild.

In case you're curious or would find this helpful…

Below this wall-o-text is the visual aid I sent Steerpike.

Before you look at it, let me point out that the positions for Baldy and Nissa don't represent where they are now. Baldy likely won't go THAT close to the kill zone. The idea is that she moves forward as if escorting the prisoner, hoping lizards will come forward as well. Her intent is to back off if lizards start shooting or Nissa's close to the drop zone (which may move south, depending on how lizards move). When she moves back, she'll hug the west wall making her less likely to get shot in the back by a flaming arrow.

The blue dot is as close as Baldy would dare get. She's staying out of the area where the oil smell is strong, and she's staying out of arrow range. I marked it as 100 feet, but lizards might be using short bows, so Baldy might be overestimating their reach. (It's meant as the lizard's range, but Alin's long composite bow can hit the red line if he's on the southernmost gridline.)

I'm assuming that, unless the lizards really believe Nissa's a prisoner, her flight will happen in organized turns, so she's not that far on the map yet. (I don't know the speed of her flight, but a halfling moves at 20 feet per turn on foot.)

Of course, there's no way of knowing that the oil is as shown on my purple-ized map. It's just a theory, but Nissa brought her own oil hoping to cause a panic if the lizards don't just walk into the oil. Since she knows Ankari intends to light the trap with an arrow, she figures she can't really screw this up. The trap gets lit with or without her torch.

Best case: the oil spill is behind the lizards and fire chases them down the hall. Nissa picks up the torch and scouts for ~7 minutes. (She'll only disappear if she has to drop in the lots-of-oil area.)

Worst case: Nissa drops her things, a splash, a flash, lizards shrug and Nissa disappears before they fill her little winged body with arrows.

If this post was tl;dr'd, no offense taken.

    Looks good :)

I'll update with a map tonight. We'll be going into melee rounds, looks like. Between now and next Monday work is going to be pretty crazy, so my game updates will come either in the evening or early in the morning before I head in.

I'm going on the assumption we would know this already, if this is plotting of sharing information we wouldn't know without conversation in game let me know.

The gate can take us to two points, would either take us closer to Burnbrite then going out the way we came in?
Exploring all the options, for quickest and safest return.

I guess if the flow of oil is as shown, I could bounce a flaming arrow into the oil into the first section, and it would burn into the larger section.

Yeah… or Nissa could be overestimating the effect of the slope. It's a long shot. The poor thing might catch some arrows, so who knows where the torch and oil will drop, or whether it'll bring danger to the lizards?

Well… trap's gotta be burned up, so this is one of those it's-dumb-but-won't-hurt-to-try plans.

Question: did the 'Darkness Yoyo' work?

I mean, was Mauve able to conceal the pebble in her pocket to prevent it from emitting darkness until she takes it out again, or does the 20' radius of darkness remain even when the pebble is pocketed? Mauve attempted the former but the GM post implies the latter, unless the GM post just gave us the effect of the spell without getting into Mauve's action.
