And they might pay tribute to you in song

So if you bust your butt, work hard and get some success in the writing field you might just get some appreciation from your peers in the field...and a little ribbing.

Every year at Thrillerfest, they give out the Thriller awards (kind of like the Academy Awards for thriller writers) including the lifetime achievement award called the Thrillermaster award.

In 2017 this award was given to Lee Child.

Part of the tradition is that a song (or a medley in this case) is created for the winner that both praises and roasts him or her.

Since Lee is a huge Beatles fan, this year it was done to the tune of Beatles' songs.

If you know anything about Lee, the movies (with Tom Cruise) or the books, you will find the songs hilarious.

They were written and performed by Daniel Palmer (son of Michael Palmer- one of the greats in the field of medical thrillers), a great writer in his own right, and thriller author Brad Parks, who at one time sang opera professionally.

So here is the medley for your amusement. (Tip: If you are trying to read the lyrics on the screen it is easier in full screen mode)

The crowd reaction was amazing, especially if you keep in mind this is a room full of industry professionals and very few fans.

And as people sat their wondering "Lee Child and that song, what will they do to top it next year?" the MC announced next year's Thrillermaster award is going to George R. R. Martin.

"Eight Blurbs a Week" got a very good response, as did the obligatory MJ reference
