Hello, everyone, I'm an old guy, finally retired, and attempting to learn "How to write" a story I have carried for many years. I am much better than I was three years ago but not good yet. Not good enough for me to send it out. I have over 400,000 words typed, sorted into chapters and saved on three hard drives and the cloud. I don't want to lose it. :)

Hail and well met buster13h
Good to have you here.
400K?!?!?!?! Wow...
Even LotR tops out at about 490k.
I can understand your care at keeping it all backed up. I'd go for a paper copy too [and then go plant a dozen trees to say sorry].
Don't be shy to leap on in and enjoy Mythic Scribes.

Welcome, buster. I'm in a similar position, though I've been retired for four years. As encouragement I offer this: I too carried a story around in my late working years. In fact, I retired early in part because writing was becoming more important to me than my university work (webmaster, programmer). Damn glad I did. It took me some years to get the novel finished, but I completed it earlier this month and boy howdy does it feel good. Already starting on another. Mine was a "mere" 150k.

So, keep at it. It's possible. The only way to fail is to stop.
