Just a thought. Would there be a way we could compile a list of reputable publishers be they small press or major markets? Perhaps list links to their websites and profile them in a way that could provide members with accurate information regarding their submissions process, whether or not they accept unsolicited manuscripts, wait times, what they're looking for, etc?
This wouldn't necessarily be like Writer's Market (which I highly recommend for anyone wanting to publish), but more of an informal evaluation so writers would know if the publisher would be a good fit for them or not. I've met lots of small press writers and I think having knowledge of these presses would help out members a lot. For those looking to submit to the "big guns" (Tor, Del Rey, Bantam Spectra, etc.) it would also be good to know what you're getting into before submitting.
Would posting said information with links be useful or would the publishers not like that? I remember reading info on a website once that showed turn-around times for submissions from certain publishers and how it could be helpful for writers in knowing the general status of their manuscripts they're sending out.
Would this be a good idea? Would it be feasible?
