Devil in the Details

Some of that pairs well with the discussion of active vs passive voice from a different thread. I.e., choose different agents/agency. This keeps things lively—alive—and draws the reader's focus much better than using a two-dimensional list of items for description.

I also love the idea of using contrast to draw out an image, make it really pop out.

Myth Weaver
When I write out details, I am not cognizantly aware of whether they contrast or compliment. I just kind of pick what seems be important to say, and sometimes that comes out with a degree of flourish. After reading this, I am going to give this a little more attention and see how it goes. Thanks.
