Now you have the basic outlines for each civilisation, you could look at things like
- Who runs each civilisation?
- A brief history of how the civ. was founded and how it became what it is today.
- Individualising each civilisation. Do they have "sigils"? Special symbols? Differing...
I agree with everything said before. Also, remember not to worry too much about a cover, because if the publishers like it, they'll make it themselves anyway.
That's incredible! I think I love you.
Some questions though:
- How mobile would this magic be? If a Consort needs to offer to the spirit every time he performs a "spell", it suggests that he needs to locate the spirit, offer something, then return to where he desires the magic to surface. And...
In my current WIP, magic is probably the most undeveloped part. I thought maybe if I explained it here, you good
scribes could comment/pick it apart so I can get it right. :D
Alright, so Sulrun (the world) is just one branch of a great tree holding many worlds on its arms, all created by...
The first draft of my current world. This is quite different to the current revision of the world, so I don't mind showing it in advance. Like the other map I uploaded a few months back, the drawing was done by a friend, but the world is all mine.
The labelling was very rushed, just to give...
I've used Webs in the past. There's quite a lot of customisable options available. It takes a little time to fully understand the set up, but once you get used to it, it's all good.
And you can buy a domain name, or fill in hundreds of surveys and other dodgy tidbits to earn enough credits.

What I like to do, is create a story after I've created a world. This way, the story will always fit in the context of the land. I'll usually draw a map (an artistic mess, usually) and fill in the various regions, cities, towns, landmarks... I'll add a little conflict, sometimes write myself a...
Of course it's okay to be inspired by other writers.
Concentrate on writing a story you love. When it's finished, the similarities between your novel and those you've been reading might only be subtle. If they're quite noticeable, change some things in the re-write/edit.
It's really as...
What you see here is a rather posey picture of oneself. No shame.
The picture is actually a few months old. I now have a massive blonde mess that runs down my fringe. I like it, sometimes.
Greetings!
There's no shame about being a beginner. Everybody starts somewhere. Hell, I've been writing for about ten years and I still feel like a beginner!
:)
Greetings!
When you have five posts, you can upload some of your work to the Showcase section of the forum where people can give you constructive criticism and the like. Don't worry, nobody will tell your stuff stinks. If it does, you'll be told how to improve it. Everybody starts somewhere...
