Yes, and yes.
Well, not very much. And not very often. At least not that I remember.
Two or three times, perhaps, I've remembered a dream where my main characters apperared. Onve they even was in the surroundings I've created for them.... Anyway, it did not make me change the story, but the...
Thank you!
This was exactly what I needed ... or rather what my husband needed. He's trying to convert my writing into film scripts, and I've tried to explain the hero's journey to him (even put the book in his hands) but for some reason he is more a "visual" person than a "reading" one ... *s*
Is there ANY way at all you could come up with something that would make at least one of your characters not lose hope entirely?
I'm sure I'd read a depressing story if I only got some hint that everything is not lost and those "better days" you're talking about will come ... but I really...
I often use books / films about mythology, like you. Or fairytales. Random surfing on Wikipeidia might work too :) and documetary films.
For me, it usually start with ONE idea, often sprung from a "what if....?" when I see something interesteing. I like to take a relatively known myth /...
I haven't thought of it that way, but generally I at least plan my stories backwards. At least I almost always knows the ending before I know the beginning - and because I know (at least the general) ending, I can make up what has to happen along the way to arrive there. Yes, I do outline...

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be...
Right now I'm mostly into Greek myths, and though all those big badass Gods and Heroes is fashinating I often root more for those "smaller" humans that are being caught up in the whirstorm of what's happening - but hasn't enough power to do much about it. Or those who keep trying without success...
Nice to see I'm not the only one with this problem. Or - perhaps not NICE, but... I think you understand what I mean.
Soooo ... since my first NaNo went fine this challenge might be just what I need. June might be trickier than November but I'll definetly give it a try.
It started when I had read the last translated part of a series that I liked - and realized that there were more parts of it. I decided I couldn't wait, so I bought them in English and read them (with a dictionary close by.) Then I learned there were waaaay more fantasy published in English than...
Seems like this is the place to say hello.
So ... "Hello". :D
I call myself Cinnea in this place. Been writing on and off for a couple of years, mostly fantasy inspired by ancient (and sometimes not so ancient) myths.
I'm from Sweden, so English is my second language. Since I read...
