I'm not sure yet. I think that titling them makes them unique and is a neat idea, but I have always wondered how much readers care about them. I think a number can sometimes be boring but it also is simple and doesn't give too much away. I have mixed feelings.
I should also add that I am very inspired by poetry. I read a poem and I take my personal interpretation of it and try to be creative. I have had some great ideas after reading poetry.
What do you think about writing a graphic novel? Is it something that you can see yourself doing? I have no skills as an artist but I do think that writing a story for a graphic novel would be a lot of fun.
It seems like there are a lot of different ways to approach the issue. I think the idea of not having weddings at all is really interesting. I also like the idea of a ceremony used just to seal two people together as mates and not necessarily a part of a love connection. I am still trying to...
I go back and forth with the SyFy (ugh, the name) channel. I like when they have really good horror and different television shows on but some of the made for tv movies are too cheesy. I can't watch any of the animal or creature movies. What's weird to me is that sometimes I pass by the channel...
Wow, that's quite ambitious. Are you on any type of writing schedule each day now or are you going to be starting with this? Do you have a lot of your story, characters, and settings planned out already?
How do you handle wedding traditions in your writing? I have not been to a point in my writing where I wanted to start creating wedding traditions but I am already brainstorming. How close do you think you'll keep fantasy wedding traditions to traditions you are familiar with in real life?
It's something that I am considering right now. I don't want to do it for my first novel though. I'm going to wait and make sure that I can do it correctly. I have seen it done really well and I've seen it done badly. The worst mistake I think you can make is choosing the wrong character to narrate.
I saw the first 2 episodes but missed the one last night. It is so bizarre. I don't think it's a good show but I am curious about where it is going. I think it's cheesy and not really presenting anything new. Somehow it has a pretty good cast though.
Interesting idea. I think there are many ways you could spin it so that the absence of the biological parents is not a big problem. It could lead to interesting scenarios where the child can't control the powers, which could cause trouble. They could teach themselves, somehow find a mentor...
How do you plan to get quick inspiration during NaNoWriMo?
I have a friend who decided to try it this year too and we have decided to make a set of note cards with words, places, names, or objects them. We will trade note cards and each have a deck of cards if we need some quick ideas. It...
I understand what you're saying. I kind of think that NaNoWriMo isn't going to lead to something I can publish. It will push me to write every day and give me a writing goal that I feel motivated to finish because I won't feel that I'm in it alone, I guess. Even if the story isn't complete, I'll...
I have learned a lot reading this thread. Names are important to me. I have to have the right name that I feel speaks for a character. I tend to look at baby name websites for some ideas and if I really feel like it, I will try to put new spins on popular or well-known names.
That happens to me frequently. I will start researching a historical person and get tied into their family and then whatever location they lived and so on. It's especially bad if I'm reading Wikipedia because I will start on the page for Henry VIII and then end up reading about a specific type...
What does your writing schedule look like for this year's NaNoWriMo? Do you have an estimated word count per day or is that something you even consider? I know that schedules can intimidate some people but for me they are pretty good motivators.
