    Steampunk Architecture

First you need to figure out what makes something "steampunk" an then can apply that filter to any architectural style that you want.

What would be at a Waystation?

The post houses is where the idea started. They would purposely be built at locations that would not make good locations for towns but people need to pass through in order to get from one location to another. A place of safety in a wild world, a place to restock some supplies, repair wagons...

What would be at a Waystation?

The Warders are garrisoned. Some Stations are built at crossroads, some are along rivers, etc.. The idea is to not become towns, but serve as a brief stop on the way from town to town, city to city. They are independent of any local governments. They are built in locations that are not...

What would be at a Waystation?

In my world there are Waystations across the land. These are places of safety and resupply for travelers going from city to city and town to town. Each station has a garrison of soldiers called Warders of the Way that patrol the roads, protect and aid travelers, etc.. The first book I...

We just finished it tonight. Phenomenal. One of the best. It's been announced that there will be a season two. Not sure how they can top this.

A "what not to do" in relation to looking for an agent

Yeah, it does go both ways. Basically, don't go ranting somewhere that is basically public and can come back to hurt you.

Made some bookmarks to hand out

Not every fantasy story is an epic saga. In a world of magic, there is a new adventure around every corner. This is one such adventure. Minoda was a peaceful mining town until the skeletons came. Will even the help of the wandering Far Rider, Cullen Hawkfall, be enough to save the village?

    Bad at drama?

Art is subjective. What is good to one is not good to another, etc.. There is no right answer. Don't try to force yourself into a type of writing (drama, satire, etc..). Just write and see where it ends up.

A "what not to do" in relation to looking for an agent

In the case of the blog writer, he has every right to write what he did but now he has to deal with the consequences of that. Which would be: people like us getting a negative impression of him, agents getting a negative impression of him, potentially never getting a meeting with an agent again...

A "what not to do" in relation to looking for an agent

Freedom of speech and the consequences of that speech is simply: You can call someone an a-hole but you have to accept the responsibility and consequences of calling that person an a-hole. Maybe you lose a friend or people look and treat you differently, etc.. You can say whatever you want to...

    People always forget that part.

A "what not to do" in relation to looking for an agent

Of course he can say what he wants, but he also has to remember that it's the internet and it's viewable by EVERYONE, including the people he's talking about as well as the people in their network. Not the smartest move.

Made some bookmarks to hand out

Have a signing at a local bookstore on August 6th and I wanted some marketing materials to hand out. Started brainstorming what I could do and came up with the idea of doing a bookmark. I think they came out pretty good.

A "what not to do" in relation to looking for an agent

This blog post is starting to make the rounds and is a good example of what not to do. Bad attitude from the start, not understanding fully the situation and blaming it on others, and then "venting" about it on the 'net. How to get yourself blacklisted – In the Inbox
