I will be looking at this soon. Still recovering from holidays and snowdays. Getting there.

I look forward to seeing Eye of Ebon' appear on Authentic. I can't review it, but I look forward to seeing it.

Points are given according to the length (page count) of the book reviewed - 4, 7, 12, or 15. You get some [points just for signing up. It takes 10 points to list a book. Hence, read and review one book worth 7 points after joining, and that will give you enough points to list your book.

I have been going for the 15-point books because two reviews let me put three books up for review.

Authenticity is key, Whether in writing or life, staying true to your voice and vision makes all the difference. Keep it real, and your work will resonate.

Authentic wants to charge me $3.00 a month, or $120 per year.... Does that make sense?

Why would I choose a yearly one...

It started as free, went to $10 a month, then they had a one-month special, dropping it to free. (I got a refund.)

I supposedly have the $10 a month subscription. That got dropped to $3 for one month.

Given that you only have one book, I suggest going with the one-month membership. ($12, if memory serves). I went with te yearly because I have nine titles.

Meh...if they fixed their website so the yearly was $36.00. I might buy the yearly, they just don't have their numbers right.

But...again, I fear the karma system. Reading to gain ignition is not really how I spend my time. But then....I am kind of at a pause.... I'd do it just to see what happens. Wonder if the book I am currently reading is on there.

Check their library. It is kind of sparse at the moment, but I always find something.

So, I noticed in setting up Authentic, there is a spot to say, what is your reviewing alias, as if I could post my review under a different name. Do you know how that works? I am not sure Amazon will care about what I sign up as in Authentic, it will still post as me in amazon.

ThinkerX

Myth Weaver
They do recommend the alias, as a means of preventing one-star 'revenge reviews' (an issue on Goodreads).

I didn't go that route because I don't care - anymore, I look over the sample, and if I can't give at least a three-star review from that, then I don't review the book.

Yeah, I would hate to tag someone with low reviews, and I am typically hard to please, so I am not sure I am fair.

I am reading a book now, and...well its not meeting my standards of good writing. I want to review it, but...it will hurt if I do. I am waiting for it to come more alive for me. I should make a policy of never read a book of someone I know.

I just don't know how I could review under an alias on Amazon.

Or maybe the Alias is just used on Authentic.

All Authentic cared about when I signed up was the 'verified purchase.' You can change just your reviewer ID on Amazon. I did it because that slot was blank. If memory serves, it means clicking on one of your reviews (or the page where they ask you to review stuff) and just type something in.

I guess I've never looked. Maybe it is there to do.

Got my first book to review its gonna be hard. Everyones name starts with G. And they are strange. Griffenya and Grogriefa. Like 10 of them so far. Ugh. Why?

Its called Bards sing of love and war. It was the only fantasy looking book there, so I took it. Oddly, I have gotten over all their names starting with G. The one name that still gets me is a character named Bryn. The only Bryn I knew was definitely female, and this one is not. It jarring to have to transpose that in my mind.

I dont think I should be a book reviewer, when I read, I am just an editor masquerading as a reader. I should be an editor only, I think.

Good luck!

My reviews usually have 2-3 paragraphs of 2-4 sentences each. The first paragraph is a summary. In the second paragraph, I point out what I liked or had issues with. The third paragraph is a 'will appeal to...'

Several of the reviews I have received have been one or two sentences. I quoted a couple of them in the 'Where to go from here' thread.
