I wasn't a fan. Like others here, I don't appreciate the ring being overplayed, I don't like the inclusion of Sauron either.
I felt character development went out the window. And the cross-species sex interest was annoying too.
It doesn't matter IMO unless it features in the story somehow. If you're exploring some economic ideas, that could be interesting. Play around with wampum like currency, or have paper currency tied to the value of copper.
But if you're not trying to speak to economics in some way, my opinion...

As awesome as world building is (and I love it), once you get some very basic things down I would recommend to start writing. Then you can fill in details as they pertain to your story.
