Why wouldn't this happen? For reasons other than your story's plot, why wouldn't a young council member in another kingdom address it? Nobody is ever content, people are always power hungry.
I feel like the metal kingdom would face a disadvantage in war. The metal they export can be maintained and doesn't always need to be imported all of the time by other countries. It isn't a necessity. Food, on the other hand, needs to be constantly imported, is difficult to store, and is...
My first question would be about how this kingdom feeds itself. If it is in the (probably cold) northern region of the continent, and its economy and way of life are primarily focused on metallurgy, where are they getting their food?
Should this require an importation from other kingdoms, I...
Hey all,
I've always had the horrible weakness of never really being able to create support characters that feel real or serve some sort of greater purpose. So, I bring to you all a couple of questions:
1. When do you determine if you need a support character in a scene or not? How do...
I've gotten to the point where I see a book includes a "farm boy orphan whose magical tendencies are against the norm finds his true destiny to defeat the king super warlock emperor" I put it down and walk away.
This is probably one of the best magic systems I have read about to date.
How does one train to become, say, an Auger versus a Cipher? Is it something you are born into? Are children selected to study when they are young? Could middle-age peasant man Bob decide one day to learn the...
Well without metal how would you make effective arrowheads? Also, how would you replace something like a sword, aside from obsidian (which I believe is very fragile and rare)?
Been thinking about this...if you had to make weapons but you couldn't use metal (or only very little), what would they be? Can be anything from clubs to explosives to siege weapons...and obviously they can have Special wood in them or something if you so choose.
What about a fantasy society that evolved its technology through magic? You could have a super high tech scifi setting built upon its previously fantasy roots
Around 1,470 words today. Got in a pretty interesting prologue and a start to the first chapter. I would have loved to have gotten 2,000 words for the day, but I reached a natural stopping point in my thought process and thought it would be a good idea to call it a night.
I'm having trouble outlining. I can write what each character (i have around 5/6) is doing in the beginning, middle, and end of the novel, but I'm finding it difficult to do a more chapter-by-chapter outline, especially where chronologically characters have to be in the same place or experience...
