Yeah, there is a serious lack of female leads in fantasy stories. One of my absolute favorite books is Deed of Paksenarrion, but I have a hard time coming across quality writing of that caliber. Recommendations anyone?

The biggest obstacle to writing is oneself. Everything else = minor roadblocks.
Seriously though, I have to think like this. First things first; get the thing written. Edit. Re-write. Focus on getting that story done that at some point in time stuck itself in that head of yours. Then worry...
I think it depends on what goals you have for the characters in question. The concept of a story could be redemption, for instance; if you plant this concept early on in the story, and the reader follows the story in order to get to the point where the "bad" protagonist actually manage to redeem...
I think this can actually be one of the largest pitfalls of fantasy writing in particular today, specially for newer writers. As Phill the Drill said, info dumping can be overly generous in this particular genre.
The important thing is sticking to the core of the story, and always ask...

I think the question one must ask themselves is: "What will I convey with an accent, what am I trying to tell?". I find that I tried using minor "cheats" in grammar/spelling in order to deliver a line with some sort of accent, but I found myself second-guessing the pro's of doing so so I ended...
Tomas here. Loves fantasy, want's to write, but I'm currently trying to lure my creative monster back from a dark cave with a carrot on a string. Candy might work too...
Anyway, nice to be on board, looking forward to get to know you all!
Tomas, just another dude.
