Daan Doornbos
Hi all, I've always been a fan of stories and started to first create my own as a young man playing games such as D&D and exchanging short stories with friends. All the while I never really thought I'd become a professional writer: I considered myself to be too impatient and the job to be too reclusive. Additionaly, I always associated wanting to become an author or celebrity with having a certain vanity.
However, seven years ago I went through an extraordinarily difficult time with my family and father's death and some personal health issues. One of the things that kept me going was creating stories. As with the characters we create: conflict reveals character. And I realised creating stories was essential for me, and something that would be an important part of my life from then on.
At that moment back in 2017 the current writing project (book) that I'm working on was born. A much too ambitious and immodest epic fantasy series. Seven main characters, though not introduced at the same time of course. A historically accurate medieval world paired with more wild areas where magic is still alive and demons and sorcerers still walk the earth. And though I've considered this project to just be 'a more serious hobby' and though I have spent most of the time doing research and outlining so far, I have recently decided that I am willing to take this all the way. And actually seek publication when ready.

The book I mention so far still hasn't a working title.
That may seem odd. It did have a working title (The lord of reed and wind) but it's grown obsolete as I started to really study professional outlining and characterization. I have not yet found a new fitting working title. So that's something I should definitely look into.
In the future I do look forward to sharing some of my characters, dialogue and writing with the forum. As well as being part of a writing community.(I am in Western Europe, mostly online in evenings and weekends) I am open to writing buddies and/or maybe even being part of a writing group.
Also thank you for your future support and feedback. And I wish you all the best with your creative work. Keep going and don't give up.
