Thank you! Am diving in...
I agree with you there about story trumping world building. I think I may need to get over my need for detail accuracy, in the beginning... I do get a lot of ideas and connections from world building, though.
I'm curious about what others do for worldbuilding. Do you build out to the small details before writing, or do you have a loose framework and go from there? I'm sure it depends on the type of story you're writing as well. I get impatient to write after I have a skeleton down, but then I always...
I like option 2 better as well. The setting description and interaction with the AI anchor you a bit more in the story than option one's mystery. I like them both, though!
That's what I'm doing now, way beyond any point I've gone before with outlining. NOT outlining has clearly not worked so far, so hopefully this will keep my brain in line :)
We are looking at a good amount of snow overnight here. Fingers crossed!
I always have solid ideas from beginning to end... sometimes I think that is part of my problem - too many ideas and not enough focus to stick with one all the way through.
I know what you mean. It was much more fun when you didn't have to drive in it, too. Winter hiking (partly because there are less people!) can be so peaceful, though.
I understood your meaning in that context, though a blue screen to me always means it's not going to come back without a full reboot, ha. Lately I've been saying "hold on... buffering..." in conversation for moments like those. But I would totally get your meaning, reading it in that context.
I'm Melissa and am glad to be here. I have been writing for a long time but have not yet actually finished anything. That is my goal; that is why I'm here. I live in the midwest US, and when not working, hanging out with my kids, or otherwise adulting, I am writing, reading, kayaking, or hiking...
