HELP ME choose names for main characters!!! SUPER important, thanks :D

Exactly. I only meant that the books are hard for names due to the sheer mass of characters and the fact that a large number of them are named after one another.

HELP ME choose names for main characters!!! SUPER important, thanks :D

Not at all. Look at A Song of Ice and Fire, it does just that. George Martin often takes fake names like "Daenerys", "Benjen", or "Eddard", and shortens them into real ones like "Dany", "Ben", or "Ned". I like this approach because it's easier for people who have trouble remembering long...

    Currency

In the world I'm currently building I'm using a plethora of different currencies. I'm not sure how much of a bearing it will have on the actual story later on, but it's something I like to set up. Each country has it's own currency, many use gold and silver coins, some uses wooden or stone ones...

    I hate my computer...

I can't live without the backspace.

    Your Goal

Another big one for me would be to have people speculate about the next installment of a series I wrote. I've spent a lot of time analyzing and making theories about other people's work, I think it would be really cool to see people do it with mine.

    Help with a young empress

Going along with Ankari, I think that leaders often work for the greater good but have a hard time making the citizens understand that. It's unfair for the empress to sacrifice the common folk for their own good, while she likely still stays in her palace consuming energy at will. People would...

    Your Goal

What is it? Your goal as a writer, that is. When you sit down to write a book, is there something in specific that you want from the completion of said book? Some sign that proves your success, on a personal level if not a financial one. I think that for me it's fan art. Even just one. One day...

    Killing Everyone Off

I agree with doing it progressively. I love character deaths, and killing off main characters (I find happy ending hard to write, honestly) but when everyone dies at the end it often feels cheapened. I think a good death happens while there is still a lot of story left, it gives you time to miss...

Stormtrooper Accuracy and other things to dodge

Especially if you take into account that most armoured knights were training vigorously from a very young age. While I'm sure they could be out maneuvered by a man in chainmail or leather, the encumbrance of plate armour is often greatly exaggerated.

Stormtrooper Accuracy and other things to dodge

I hate it when they pull that cheap move and try to make you care for a character by having him go, "I have a daughter back home and it's her birthday!" or "I'm getting married after this battle!" and then inevitably kill them within minutes.

    Hello, hello!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Holy Diver, in my very humble opinion. But my name is actually a reference to Dio Brando of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Manga series, of course Dio Brando is in turn a reference to the band so it all comes around.

    Regarding Elves and Rabbit Food

I don't know much about what nutrients vegetarianism doesn't provide, or the side effects and lethality of generations of vegetarianism. But if this is world is in a medieval time period, the elves may not even know about the idea of getting all your vitamins. You could even introduce it as a...

    Regarding Elves and Rabbit Food

Just a quick thought, but if you plan to go the Lord of the Rings route and make elves immortal this could bypass the necessity of meat to survive. If a person has been around for thousands of years, they would wrack up a huge body count of dead animals. I could see how this could be seen as...

    Magic question

Dark and black both imply that the use of this magic should be viewed as a negative thing, correct? Assuming this, lets take a look at Wiccanry's "real" types of magic: White Magic - The spell cast on somebody helps them, with own permission. Grey Magic - The spell cast on somebody helps them...
