looking for science fantasy novel/series coauthor

I am a fairly successful indie fantasy and science fiction author who’s published a number of novels. I write for extra income as well as for creative expression. I don’t want to seem self-promoting, but my ebooks are published under my pen name Dean Chalmers and are available on Amazon. I...

Does advertising on a Facebook increase your sales enough to make it worthwhile?

I did and it didn't seem to do anything. From what I've heard from other writers, it's pretty useless. Of course, it might depend on how much you want to spend ... The more you can spend "per click" or "per exposure" the more audience you can get. I tried to narrow my demographics and not go...

    Shadewright

EXCERPT: I was raised in the house of an angel. True, the angel of the Benevolent Hand Orphan Asylum wasn’t really an angel, neither winged nor divine. Her smile was a lopsided grin, her bosom ample, her cracked stone face splattered with bird droppings. She stretched her arms out over the...

    Images in ebooks?

For my novel Shadewright, I put the world maps in the front of my Kindle book by just pasting the jpeg images into the .rtf file in MS Word, which I then ran through Calibre (free conversion software) to make the Kindle .mobi file. It was the first time I tried anything like that, but it seemed...

    Thought I'd let you know...

8,000 words is a pretty generous limit for a short compared to most markets. Nice that they take novella length too (though if you have something 35,000 words long that you think is really good, you might be able to sell it as an ebook yourself).

    Shadewright

SHADEWRIGHT, the first novel in my new series The Shadewright Cycle, is now available for .99 on Amazon for Kindle: Shadewright (Shadewright Cycle -- BOOK ONE): Dean McMillin: Amazon.com: Kindle Store I'd post a cover image here but I honestly haven't figured out how to yet ...:(...

What's the Real Reason for Revising?

I revise until things stop jumping out at me that I hate and that demand fixing. If I've gone over the work a couple times and that still happens, it means something is seriously wrong with the basic premise/structure ... Which is bad news and serious rewrite time. But these days I try to...

    kindle direct publishing

I've made over $1100 through KDP in the last two months so I kinda like them. The free promos are helpful. And despite what they say, they DO pay you a small royalty for promo copies, though how they calculate that (or anything on the royalty statements) is pretty incomprehensible to me. Amazon...

    Why Give Away Your Books?

One thing I can say is that I do think the free KDP promos on Amazon have helped my sales. For my first novel, definitely ... I wouldn't have sold 500+ paid copies if I hadn't given out 2000 free first. I know some authors who went through small publishers for their ebooks, the publishers...
