So, not remotely near finishing even an outline, but my brain dances around different details and sometimes one keeps my focus and it becomes hard to think around it...almost like having a headache and your trying to do long division...or your taxes o_O Anyway, recently my brain has decided to...

What do you think is a good chapter length for a fantasy novel nowadays?

actually yes, it makes total sense. It's kind of sad though, like losing the magic of Christmas that we all have as a child when we get older...I'm not sure I'm ready to lose the reader in me...just yet.

If the story is intriguing, then I keep reading and think Oh, I wonder who this character is or what happened to lead to these decisions, etc. On another note, I...

Which is better for a beginner...

Throw on the "who cares what anyone else thinks" mantle, huh? I don't think if I had written a hundred thousand books successfully and was a millionaire living on my own private island would I ever attempt fan fiction...definitely not ballsy enough for that!!

it's true, but I guess unless I set the story where I live (I don't want to do that lol) I will have the same issue to some degree, won't I? I'm so silly

Which is better for a beginner...

Which is better for a beginner...

So the setting I was thinking in my head was actually somewhere in Japan, as martial arts was going to be a strong thread of the story. But my issue is that I have never been to Japan, nor do I have extensive knowledge of different martial arts lol. Ask me why I would pick things I know nothing...
